For the rapid deployment of the OS, organizations often use the method of recovery from the finished image/clone HDD with a fully configured and ready-to-work OS.

However, after deploying an image on a new PC, the JoinCloud license will become invalid, since the equipment has changed (the license is tied to the HWID CPU / HDD).

At the same time, if there are quite a lot of PCs with JoinCloud in the organization, and there isn’t control of the licenses, then technical support staff will have to look for the necessary activation code, and in this case, problems will arise. Since all PC clones will have the same name and ID of the JoinCloud installation – this will not allow you to restore the license yourself from the backup (see how to do it here) stored on the JoinCloud activation server. This will make it difficult for technical support staff to find the right license and, accordingly, will increase the time frame for solving the problem.

In this regard, after deploying the HDD image, it is strongly recommended to perform a few simple steps:

  1. Assign a unique (within the organization) name to the computer. To do this, develop and adhere to a certain naming scheme for computers.
  2. Clear JoinCloud license information, as it will not be suitable for a new disk (how to clear license information here).
  3. If you have problems with activation, find out the MAC address of the computer and send it to technical support along with the technical report.

Example of getting the MAC address from the Windows command line:

Win+R

cmd.exe

ipconfig /all> myips.txt //txt-file add to report

P.S. Since after deploying an image you have to activate and configure JoinCloud, it will be easier to create an image before installing JoinCloud.
